How to Get Better at Go: A Beginner’s Improvement Guide

If you’ve started playing Go and feel stuck… you’re not alone.

Step 3: Understand Ko (Without Overcomplicating It)

Ko fights confuse beginners, but here’s the simple version:

  • You can’t immediately retake a position
  • You must play somewhere else first

That “somewhere else” becomes strategy.

At your level, you don’t need deep ko theory—you just need to:
